My Story

Early life

On the 1st June 1996, I was born at Watford General Hospital, to a British Pakistani (Second Generation) Father and Scottish Mother. Over the years of my life, I have always been proud of my heritage, having spent time in both Scotland and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (Pakistan Administered Kashmir).

I was born with a unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate. This is a type of birth defect that affects 1 in 700 babies in the United Kingdom and many more around the world. For more detail, click on the Cleft Lip and Palate button, where I go into more detail about my own experiences.

Education

From a young age, I have always been studious and focused on my education. This may be due, in part, to my grandparents raising me to always be focused on my studies and stressing the importance of working hard.

I have always enjoyed school and education, as much as I enjoyed sport. I believe they go hand-in-hand. I am a firm believer in the importance of education, even when pursuing a career in sport. I find the best way to describe or realise the importance, is by watching Coach Carter, which is based on a true story. The fundamental message being that education will always be there, even when sport is no more.

I attended Watford Grammar School for Boys during the years 2007-2014, where I completed both my GCSE and A-Level Qualifications. Watford Boys is perceived as the best school in the local area and one of the best in the region, whilst also breaking into the Top 100 in the Financial Times league table of the Top-Performing Schools, coming in at number 89, only 5 behind Harrow School. This was the first time that a comprehensive school had made it into the Top 100 since the list was refined to reflect in rigorously academic subjects at A-Level. Attending Watford Boys was an honour and privilege as it helped to mould me into the person I am today. All of the experiences that I had during my time at the school helped to determine and improve my own academic abilities.

After my A-Levels, I had attended the University of West London between 2014-2017, and 2017-2018, for the Bachelor of Laws, and Legal Practice Course respectively. Law has always been a passion of mine, and was something that I had wanted to do from a young age. I received a 2:1 in the Bachelor of Laws, and a Pass Commendation in the Legal Practice Course.

Eventually, I will transition into law full time, but only after my boxing career is finished.
